- An international prize contest among nephrology fellows for the best article submitted to the journal by a trainee as first author.
This competition recognizes outstanding work done by junior colleagues in the early stages of their careers in nephrology.
Only one nephrology fellow is chosen annually.

2019 - Delta Omega Alpha Public Health Honor Society Member
- The Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health was founded in 1924 at Johns Hopkins University within the
School of Hygiene and Public Health to promote the graduate study of public health, and to recognize outstanding
achievement in the new field. Members are inducted by chapters through a highly-selective process that assesses
their outstanding performance and devotion to the field. Chapters are limited in the number of members they may
induct each year, and inductees must have met rigorous GPA standards and be nominated by other members.

- The P.E.O. Scholar Awards are one-time, competitive, merit-based awards intended to recognize and encourage
academic excellence and achievement by women in doctoral-level programs. These awards provide partial support
for study and research. P.E.O. Scholars have demonstrated their ability to make significant contributions in
their chosen field of study, having assumed leadership positions in university academics, scientific research,
medicine, law, performing arts, international economics, history, literature, government and other demanding
fields. Only ten awardees are chosen annually in this international competition.

2012 - Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society Member
- A national medical honor society founded in 1902. Election to Alpha Omega Alpha is an honor signifying a
lasting commitment to professionalism, leadership, scholarship, research, and community service. A lifelong
honor, membership in the society confers recognition for a physician's dedication to the profession and art of
healing. While most members are inducted as fourth-year medical students, I was inducted as a third-year
medical student for being in the top 5% of my medical school class.

- Kidney failure affects over 700,000 Americans, and dialysis requires substantial patient engagement in order to
achieve optimal outcomes. The central hypotheses of this proposal are that health-related social needs impede
patient engagement and lead to worse outcomes, and represent modifiable targets for intervention that can
feasibly be implemented with medical care.

- This research pilot tested a community health worker intervention who connected Latinx immigrants found to
have risk factors for kidney disease at community screening events with medical care. The research resulted in
to poster presentations and one manuscript. The second year of funding was spent developing a community advisory
board to refine the project.
